Door Decorating Contest: Read Across America

For our school's door decorating contest, the children drew pictures of where they like to read. They drew them on geckos which is our school's mascot.

Who Let The A Out

I made these dogs to go with Dr. Jean's song "Who Let the Letters Out?" As we sing the song, the students bring up the letters in order. We can play with capital letters, lowercase letters, or initial sounds.

Shamrock Popcorn Word Practice.

Although this is sideways, I think you can get the idea. The students read a word and then peek behind it. There may be a coin for them to add to their piggy bank. You could change the shamrock to hearts, trees, apples, pumpkins, flowers, insects, eggs, suns, etc for any season or theme.

March Name Tree

Michele made this beautiful tree in the fall. Each month the students practice writing their name to hang on the tree. This month was shamrocks.

Shamrock Letter Writing

We have been using this center activity since February. In March we changed to shamrocks for our notecards.

One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish Bulletin Board

After reading One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, the students drew fish in a fish bowl and wrote a sentence about it. They practiced writing the number word and color word.

Leprechaun, Where is your gold?

After reviewing position words, we made leprechauns and in the speech bubble wrote where the leprechaun hid the gold.
