Where is the turkey?

This pocket chart will be used during calendar to reinforce number recognition.  You can't really see it in the picture, but each card has a numeral from 1 to 30 in the lower right hand corner.  The turkey will hide in the leaves and the students will guess where he is each day.

Calendar

I made labels for each of the pieces of our calendar unit. The C is from Speaking of School and the rest of the letters are from Mickey Font. They are each outlined with red marker and the shadow is in black.

Zero The Hero

Zero The Hero is so cool.

Zero The Hero goes to school.

Zero The Hero saves a space,

So all the other numbers,

Stay in their place! Yeah!

Pointers

These are pointers I made with dowels from Home Depot. My husband cut them in half. I then used hot glue, ribbon, googly eyes, and ink to embellish them. The students will use them for Reading the Room, reading our Morning Message and Shared Reading book, and during calendar.

Clip Collection

I got this idea from my friend Jess. We use Everday Calendar Counts for our Math Program in Kindergarten. Each day we add a paper clip to count our 180 days of school. This is portable so it doesn't take up as much wall space. It is made from foam board. There are 18 mug hooks to hold groups of ten paper clips. In the upper right hand corner there are three more hooks. Each hook will have the digits 0-9 on rings to show how many clips there are.
