Happy Veteran's Day

Students will follow teacher directions to assemble this soldier.  Our predictable chart will be "A soldier . . ."  Students will unscramble their sentence and glue it under the soldier.

Color Sort

I saw a set of tubes similar to this in a teaching catalog for over $50. We made homemade versions with stuffing containers. The objects were found around the house and classroom. We use them for sorting or writing in our journals.

Synonym Pots Of Gold

I wrote words on the pot and synonyms on gold coins. Students sort the gold coins on the appropriate pot.

Leprechaun, where did you hide your gold?

After reviewing position words, students will create their own leprechaun using a photo as the head. In the speech bubble, the students will write where the gold is hidden.

Thanksgiving Bulletin Board

Students told me what they were thankful for to make this paper quilt. Then we added the paper bag turkeys with pattern leaves.

Popcorn Word Cookie Jar

Students choose a cookie to read and then put it in the cookie jar. The cookie jar is made from Paper Doll Dress Up. The cookies are made from Plantin Schoolbook.

Halloween Rhyming Activities

The top activity comes from a Mailbox game. I used the cricut to cut the orange and purple circles. Students play as a memory game and match a purple picture to an orange picture to make a rhyming match.

In the bottom activity, each bat has a picture on the left wing. The students find the matching word card to put on the right wing.

Too Cute Too Spook Bulletin Board

This bulletin board has mosaic pumpkins with the student's photographs. The bats are made from handprints, pompoms, and googly eyes.

Mrs. McDonald's Dumpties

We read the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty. One day we substitued Humpty for each child's name. That child acted out the rhyme while we read it out loud. Then students wrote their name in the rhyme, glued a picture of their head in the egg, and added detail. They came out so cute!

Cardinal Directions

I used Plantin Schoolbook to make letters and shadows to label the sides of my room. Luckily my walls each face a cardinal direction.

Buzz

This is a game I read about. I don't remember where-sorry! There are 26 letter cards and 4 Buzz cards. The cards are embellished with Carson Dellosa stickers and die cuts. One students takes the stack of flashcards. He/she names the letter, the letter sound, a word that starts with the letter, or all three. The player continues to flip through the stack until the Buzz card comes up. Then the player buzzes around the group, sits down, and passes the cards to the next player.
