Temperature Sequence Center

Students will put the thermometers in order from coldest to warmest. These are from www.makinglearningfun.com.

Penguin Color Center

These penguins are from www.makinglearningfun.com. Once they are laminated, I will bind them into a booklet. Students will put the correct colored bow tie onto each penguin using velcro.

Madison's School Room

Madison got an American Girl school set for Christmas. We converted the landing into a classroom.

Bird Missing Number Center

Students will determine the bird that is missing from the branch.

Ice Fishing Popcorn Word Center

This idea comes from www.makinglearningfun.com. I will cover a copy box with white paper and cut a hole in the top. Each fish will have a paper clip (see "it"). I will make a fishing rod with a dowel and a magnet. Students will go ice fishing and read the word on the fish they catch.

Polar Bear Color Word Center

Each polar bear is wearing a different colored scarf. Students will place the polar bear on the correct iceberg. The icebergs are from www.makinglearningfun.com.

Polar Bear Sequence cards

These adorable polar bears are from www.makinglearningfun.com. Students will put the polar bears in order from smallest to largest.

Penguin Counting Center

The students will feed the penguins fish based on the number on the penguin.

Snowman Cotton Ball Counting Center

These adorable snowmen came from www.makinglearningfun.com. They are pasted on small white bags from Sam's. I trimmed the bags to 5 inches. Students will count cotton balls to put in each numbered bag.

Name Assessment

Each month, I give the students a shape to write their name on. The shapes then go up on the tree our classroom assistant made for the wall. As I take down the last month's shapes and put up the new, I can see who is making progress with writing their name.

Snowman Color Word Center

Each snowman is labelled with a color word. Their are scarves and hats to match. Students dress the snowman with the correct color hat and scarf.

Hats off to a New Year

This will be a January bulletin board. The students will each choose a hat and write their name and 2010 on the hat. On a separate sheet of paper, they will write something they wish to learn in 2010.

Non Fiction/Fiction Bulletin Board

These will be the headings for our Nonfiction/Fiction Bulletin Board. Under each title will be an iceberg. As we read stories about penguins, polar bears, and snow, we will write the title of the book on a penguin, polar bear, or snowflake, and then post it on the correct iceberg. I will update once the bulletin board is up.
